Open 7 days a week, 9:30-3:00 pm October 1st through April 30th
Join us for the 9th season of Butterfly Magic at the new Cox Communications Butterfly and Orchid Pavilion. Marvel and get up-close-and personal with nature’s flying flowers, and go home awed and inspired!
Dart Frogs have now been added to the Butterfly Magic exhibit and they have become all the rage! As of now, there are 5 different varieties and a total of 25 frogs. Native to Central and South America, Dart (or Arrow) Frogs received their name from Natives using their toxic secretion to poison the tips of blow darts. Their toxicity varies between species and is largely determined by diet and consuming native plants and bugs in Central and South America. The Gardens frogs are bred and live in a contained environment, so they do not carry high levels of toxicity. As with all frogs, if handled a slight burning will occur on the skin and hands should be washed immediately to avoid spreading.
Entrance to Butterfly Magic is included in your Gardens admission.
Membership gives you FREE entry into Butterfly Magic.
