Porter Hall: Two Artist Show
Artist Reception May 8, 2014 5-7:00 p.m.
Born and raised in Tucson, Troy was fortunate enough to meet and be mentored by the well-known Tucson artist C. Harrison Moore. Moore instilled the love and enthusiasm for painting and drawing that Troy has carried with him ever since. In college Troy found his love for painting with oil, but explored many other techniques while attending the University of Arizona. In 1984 he became a licensed contractor and started his own landscaping company, Abstract Landscaping.
John Culp grew up in Washington DC and first visited Tucson 15 years ago. “ I felt at home in the desert in the first 10 minutes,” he says. While he had worked in photography for many years, his studies with Tucson botanical artist Margaret Pope expanded his focus on form, line, and shadow and added a painterly appreciation of color and floral and botanical subjects. His body of work includes images of living flowers, old saguaros, contemporary sculpture, and abstractions of marine and cityscapes.Email this post to a friend
