Flutter in the Magic!

Butterfly Magic, the Gardens’ tropical butterfly exhibit, will return November 1, 2008. Many exciting volunteer opportunities are available. Come learn about the lifestyles of these flighty and fancy creatures, as well as the USDA regulations which ensure their protection. We’d love to have you at whatever level you can contribute. If you would like more information, please contact Maggie Taylor at 326-9686, ext. 27, or email at info@tucsonbotanical.org. If you would like to apply, please print and mail the application to the Gardens at Maggie's attention.

Volunteer Opportunities include:

Grounds: Grounds volunteers assist gardeners in maintaining the Garden exhibits by weeding, watering, pruning, planting, etc., under the supervision of the grounds staff.

Gift Shop: Volunteers who work in the Gift Shop sell merchandise, inventory stock, and price and display items. They also provide information on the Garden's programs and services, including membership, and offer general information to out-of-town visitors about the area.

Adult Education: The Gardens offers many regularly scheduled guided tours of the grounds during fall, winter, and spring, and needs enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers to serve as tour guides. Volunteers may also deliver educational slide programs off-site as part of a speakers' bureau.

Horticultural Therapy: Volunteers work primarily with the elderly or disabled to deliver planting/propagating and simple plant craft activities. Some sites have outdoor gardens for their clients, and TBG volunteers assist in the maintenance of these gardens.
