Woodcarving Demonstration

December 5 @ 10:00 am - December 6 @ 3:00 pm

Agustin Cruz Prudencio works with his father and brother in the family studio carrying on the thriving woodcarving tradition in Oaxaca.  Using the traditional tools of their trade, a machete, and a variety of knives and chisels, they are recognized as outstanding artists in Mexico and the United States. After they have completed carving a sculpture, their wives paint them with fanciful, delicate designs. Some of their favorite subjects include nacimientos, saints, angels, animals, and day of the dead inspired pieces.

Dec. 5 and Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pieces will be available for sale during the demonstration.
