Mexico City is a vibrant and diverse metropolis, with ancient roots and a rich and modern cultural life. Join Educator and travel guide Stevie Mack and Photographer Dan Chavez for a fabulous excursion to the city that served as a backdrop for a 20th century revolution and the spectacular cultural renaissance that followed. In the early 1900s government funding and private patrons fostered the arts, developing a climate wherein artists Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and others created their most important works. You are invited to join this tour to experience the places that nurtured Kahlo’s and Rivera’s creativity and to learn more about the indelible mark they left on their city and the modern world.

Dan Chavez is a local freelance photographer and photojournalist whose passion for photography began when he first used his Father’s 35 mm camera as a teenager. Having traveled extensively exploring and researching locations in Europe, the Middle East, South America, Cuba and Colonial Mexico, his inspiration and subject matter is drawn from an interest in history and art as well as a fascination with the architecture and culture. “Individuals can look at the same subject matter, yet each person’s experience is unique and their own. Through my camera lens, my images and articles will allow individuals to experience the beauty of other places and other times.”
