Garden Tours

A variety of tours are offered throughout the year, depending on the season and Garden happenings. Taking a tour is a great way to learn about the history and plant collection at the Gardens. Garden Discovery Stations and Tours are contingent on docent availability and may be cancelled without prior notification. For an additional fee, groups may request a special time for any of the tours listed below.

EXPLORE THE GARDENS TOUR

This delightful morning tour offers a brief history of the Gardens, familiarizes guests with our native flora and showcases the wide variety of plants that grow successfully in Tucson.

PHOTOGRAPHY TOUR

Third Tuesday monthly, 8:30 a.m.

Interesting photography involves combinations of light, patterns, and color.  At the Gardens, there are visual opportunities that vary from day to day and season to season.  This walking tour will help participants develop an eye for lighting and composition through looking, discussing, and mutual learning.

URBAN TREE TOUR

Fourth Tuesday, monthly
Mar. 22, 10 a.m.
Apr. 26 and May 24, 10 a.m.

The Gardens is home to over 100 different species of trees, many of which have been growing here for decades. This tour introduces some of the most common trees found in Tucson’s urban landscape and shares techniques on how to successfully chose and care for trees at home.

Take a trip back in time to explore the home and gardens of Bernice and Rutger Porter and learn how the property became the public treasure it is today.

BACKYARD BIRD TOUR

Join the Tucson Audubon Society for a backyard bird walk. Especially for beginning bird watchers, you’ll learn bird watching techniques and some tips for identifying many of the feathered visitors to our home gardens in Tucson. Bring your own binoculars or a limited number will be available for guests to borrow.
